My brother had one of these for his first car. It was a ‘92, in that brownish-grey color with the red interior. I drove it a few times. It was solid.

I love these cars. The first car I bought was a 90 Accord EX Sedan. Stick shift and power everything. Dark gray with a gray interior. Slapped an intake and exhaust on there because I was 17 and I enjoyed loud cars. Such a great car. Best $500 I ever spent. This was in 2003. KBB was over 2 grand but we bought it off of family friends.

I think these were peak Accord.
And the design - tall greenhouse, low-set dash, yuuuuge visibility. Just keep the oil and timing belt changed, and you are good to go.

My brother’s was an auto. He never modified the exhaust or anything, just upgraded the stereo. He ended up selling it to a friend and bought an EK Civic sedan, which he still has. I had a base model 4th gen Prelude , which had the same engine as the Accord, just slightly retuned for a little more power. I learned to drive manual in it. I sold it last year when I bought the now-departed TSX.

Not bad at all given the mileage. There’s a very clean burgundy wagon in my town, still has the original plates on it so I assume it’s still the original owner.

Yeah, aesthetically they’re my favorite of the ones that were sold in the US. I wouldn’t mind a manual wagon in that turquoise color they came in frequently.

It’s a pure design, reminds me of a vintage BMW in a few ways. With high build quality and a sweetly smooth (if not too powerful) engine, there’s a lot to like.

Yeah, the F22 is a great engine, though unspectacular. I had one in a 4th gen Prelude for several years. It had some little issues from time to time, but nothing major. Started every time.
My dream Accord was only sold in Japan, from 2000 to early 2002. It was essentially a Prelude with 4 doors. 220 HP, 5-speed manual with a Torsen LSD, Recaros, understated looks. I might import one with the time comes.

When I was a student, my roommate had a 92 Accord LX, given to him by his mother as she had miled it up as a commuter (100K+), and that probably harmed resale anyway,so might as well put it to good use. It was only a 5 year old car then. I remember it only having one real issue, when an ignition component failed while parked, and he had to have it towed. Otherwise, he got it past 200K with little fanfare, but sold it on a whim when he wanted something newer, and even today talks about it - he wants another. His was a silver-green color with a light beigeish interior, a nice color combo.
I do remember a couple slight drawbacks - 0-60 was quite leisurely (automatic), and the turning radius seemed similar to that of the Queen Mary.
That fancy model is very Acura-ish. Damn the 25 year rule.

I know that silver-green color. It was quite rare. Supposedly only available in 1992, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was also available in ‘93 as well.
The white one is the predecessor to our TSX.

Back in the day a friend traded his ‘87 GTI for one of those new , with an automatic no less which to the rest of us was blasphemy . The first time we traded cars for a drive I found out why people like these (and Camries): I remember getting in and I remember getting out, but I had absolutely no memory of anything in between. Completely innocuous with no peaks or valleys. Polished to perfection as the ultimate transportation appliance, one step away from self-driving. Fine for others, just not for me.

Just watch out for Honda cancer in the rust belt. It was cause due to too much weld seam caulk that would hold moisture in.
But after having two 4th gens (cb7 and cb9) I can vouge for the rest. And one thing that was brought up in the video was that even after 350k miles and rally cross the dash still doesnt squeak

Another reason I am thankful to be on the west coast, rust is a slow thing here :)
I was just able to watch the video, interesting stuff. I’d maybe look for a 91 + model, which I think had an airbag, and maybe dual for 92 or so onward.

If I remember right, there was also a host of special colors and options (unique wheels etc, maybe optional leather?) for the 1993 SE models.

Just took this last weekend at a brother of a friends. Peak accord indeed, golden generation!
This one is a wagon (rare) with 5spd and red cloth that still looks cool.

Yeah, the SE wheels were vaguely similar to the EX wheels of the next generation, and can confirm at least some had leather and different colors after working on some in junkyards.

Y eah, the thick spoke wheels, I remember. I think I have seen one or two leather cars, ever.
I see a 47K mile 92 LX coupe brought around 5K on BaT earlier this month. Probably a good deal.

Yeah, another poster linked to it in this thread. It was $5500. Not bad considering the mileage. It’ll last forever.
I may have checked my local Craigslist this morning looking for cheap examples of these, until I remembered I already have a very similar car sitting out front...

I’ve never scoured CL for one, but I suspect some nice little old lady examples are in the Seattle area. If I was to chase one, it would have to be a very special low mileage preservation piece in the right colors and options. And then I’d sell it to my friend. Several other cars I’d want first, but I can see the value in saving some nice examples.

Aim for a 92 or 93. The power was bumped up to 140 hp.
I don’t think that there was ever a passenger air bag on the cb7s . But 92 definitely has driver.
And a few things I disagree with motorweek. Styling while 30 years later is timeless. BS on the V6, wasn’t needed , and comparative to other v6s at the time ill take the f22 all day over them. Had a wagon version CB9 as my first car and had 10 people in there once and got around fine as a low rider lol.
Also i have no clue how they got 21 mpg. I absolutely thrash mine from time to time and I can never get less than 29mpg. Even in the wagon I don’t remember anything less than that

I doubt I would ever get one for myself, but I have a friend who lately has mentioned finding one. Come to think of it, I suspect you are right about the airbags - that really low set passenger dash area might not have worked with the size of airbags then. I remember my friend could hit around 30 mpg on the highway in his, too.

Agree on the V6 not being necessary. It would have made the handling worse. If you really want more power for one of these, either an H22 or putting a turbo on the F22 are both fine options. If I ended up buying one I’d probably lean towards the H since I have a spare (that would need a rebuild) in my garage.

There’s a very clean burgundy wagon around town here. I assume original owner, as it has plates from the era (Virginia switched from 7-digit plates to 8 around the time the facelifted version of these appeared).

Very true and im not sure honda was ready for it. The Legend had a v6 but was fairly big and might not have fit.
Im aiming for an H swap later. Just more potential over all, turbo or not . Some wiring intimidation though. I know it's less if I keep it OBD1

Check car-part.com, every once and awhile there will be a junk yard that doesn’t know what they have and you can get them cheap.
Also just checking car-part, why h ave i never seen that 24 spoke?
